He was born Feb. 1, 1937, to the late Lindsay Hugh and Nora Royal Long. Mr. Long was a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Long. Surviving are his ex-wife, Sandy Long; children Farley Lynn (Julie) Long of Westfield; Jeffery Steven Long of Boonville; Richie Branon of Hamptonville; and Kelley Branon of Courtney; four sisters, Gladys Bennett and Sarah (Wimp) Roberts, both of King; Susan Harrison of Courtney; and Sandra "Toby" Long of Hamptonville; a brother, Karle Lee (Mary) Long of Hamptonville; and grandchildren Anna Branon, Hope Branon, Mackensie Branon and Josh Evans. His funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Spencer King officiating. Burial will follow at Longtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 23, at the funeral home in Yadkinville. G! entry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Long family.
