She was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Yadkin County to the late Henry Harrison and Bertha Dinkins Brooks. Mrs. Johnson was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker and was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she served the church as a Sunday school teacher for the Young Peoples class several years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Miles H. Johnson, on March 20, 2007; two daughters, Linda Gail Johnson and Sandra Lea Johnson; and three brothers, Herman Brooks, Harrison Brooks and Harold Brooks. Surviving are her loving children, Joyce Nations of the home; the Rev. Ricky (OK) Johnson of Rutherfordton; a sister, Roseleen (Odell) Smith of East Bend; and two brothers, Creeb Brooks and Homer Brooks, both of Hamptonville. Her funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan! . 6, 2008, at Asbury United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Heather Kilbourne and Charles Walker officiating. Mrs. Johnson will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sandra Johnson Scholarship Fund, c/o Ms Wendy Emerson, Business Office/FTCC, 2100 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
