He was 82. Malcolm was born on Sept. 26, 1925, in Yonkers, N.Y., to John and Susan Lauder. In 1942, he joined the United States Navy and fought for his country in World War II. Malcolm met the love of his life, Joan E. Levy, in 1947. They married Feb. 14, 1948. After moving to New City in 1959, Malcolm started Scotty' s Plumbing and Heating. As the business and his family grew, his sons, Jack and Scotty joined Scotty' s Plumbing and Heating. Malcolm retired and his sons continued to run the family business. Throughout his life, Malcolm was involved with the Oasis Shriners and the Masonic Lodge. He recently received his 50 year member pin from the Masons. He was a member of the disabled American Veterans, and was awarded a certificate of appreciation, for valuable and devoted service, and performance of duty, while serving in the armed forces during time of ! conflict. Malcolm was predeceased by his wife, Joan, his daughter, Lillian E. Timmons and his sister, Susan Brown. Malcolm is survived by his daughters, Joan Hutta (Dennis) of Jonesville and Carole Macaulay (Bill) of Carolina Shores; his sons, Jack Lauder (Joan) of Garnerville, N.Y. and Scotty Lauder (Sandy) of New City; his brother, Jack Lauder of Nanuet, N.Y.; and his son-in-law, Edward Timmons of Garnerville, N.Y. He will always be remembered by his 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He will return to the love of his life in burial at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road. The viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Gentry Family Funeral Home on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville. The graveside service will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Elkin-Jonesville Shrine Club, P.O. Box 587, Elkin, NC 28621. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 1/21/2008.
