Mrs. Robbins was born in Surry County on May 8, 1933, to the late Raymond Stone and Barbara Davis Simpson. She was a retired supervisor from Astoria Braid Co. after 42 years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, "Dink" Wood; and Lester Robbins; and a sister, Gertha Lee Simpson. A faithful member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her dear sister and caregiver, Peggy Simpson of Dobson; a very special cousin, who was always there for her, Jean, and husband Lonnie Ayers of Kernersville; and special friends Dorothy Adams of Boonville and Olese and husband Thomas Matthews of Boonville. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday Ju! ne 24, at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Lawton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, June 23, at Moody-Davis Funeral Home, where her body will remain until time to be taken to the church for viewing 30 minutes before the funeral service, and at other times at the home of her sister, 1011 Copeland School Road, Dobson. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Stony Knoll United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Dorothy McCormick, 1085 Stony Knoll Road Dobson, NC 27030. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care of Yadkin County, especially Lynn and Kathy, for all the love and support shown to Mrs. Robbins during her illness.
