Swaim, 81, of Hudspeth Road, Yadkinville, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Yadkin County to the late Columbus and Fannie Holcomb Swaim. Mr. Swaim was a graduate of Boonville High School class of 1944, was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and retired from Western Electric with over 30 years of service. He was a loving father who enjoyed working in his garden and watching the Atlanta Braves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Vertie Swaim, Ellen Swaim and Hattie Tutterow; and two brothers, Richard Swaim and James Swaim. Surviving are his daughter, Sandra S. Wiles of East Bend; and four sisters, Nannie S. Johnson, twin sister Sadie S. Weavil, Mary Lee Swaim and Janette S. Stoneman. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Gentry Family Chapel, with his nephew, the Rev. Randy G. Johnson, and the Rev. Elis! ha Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Center Memorial Cemetery with full military rites by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 23, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Sullivan at Forsyth Medical Center for all the loving care given. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 6/23/2008.
