She was born in Yadkin County on March 21, 1938, to Carmie and Maxie Scott Beane. Surviving are her son, David Lee Owen, and fiancee Michelle Bagbey of East Bend; a granddaughter, Michele Wolf of Elkin; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Stanley and Chris Wolfe, both of Elkin, and Cassandra Cave of East Bend; six stepchildren, Peggy Davis, Becky Gordy and Bucky Stanley, all of East Bend; Beverly Oliver of Hamptonville; and Steve Stanley of Kannapolis; two sisters, Thelma Smith and Mary Blanche Frye, both of East Bend; brothers-in-law Gary Owen of Pfafftown and Tommy Owen of Boonville; and sister-in-law Sandra Keiffer of East Bend. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Huff Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Nancy Johnson and the Rev. Patty Choplin officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m! . today, Feb. 22, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. The family wishes to thank Dr. Eugene Paschold and his staff for all they did for Nell and the Mountain Valley Hospice and the nurses and doctors in the palliative care unit at Hoots Hospital.
