He was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Yadkin County to the late John and Ruth Crissman Shore. Mr. Shore worked for several years with Hanes Brand, Universal Textured Yarns, Harris-Covington, and retired from Carolina Narrow. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent either fishing, gardening or bird hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters, an infant brother, and his Aunt Nell Shore. Surviving are his beloved wife of 15 years, Peggy Sheek Shore, of the home; a son, Dana (Shannon) Shore of Boonville; two daughters, Penny Shore of Boonville and Sherry Lackey of South Carolina; two stepchildren, Scott (Jan) Long of Hamptonville and Tracy (Jeff) Fink of High Point; grandchildren, Ben Shore, Maggie Shore, Zack Pozebanachak, Lane Mayberry and James Mayberry; two granddaughters; three step-grandchildren, Dakota Long, Chase Long and T! ara Wooten; special cousin, Rena Hemric; and mother-in-law, Anna Forrest of Boonville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, Feb. 18, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Bill Hale and Darren Cozzens. Burial will follow in Deep Creek Friends Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Dobson, NC. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 2/18/2008.
