Mrs. Shores was born June 4, 1911, in Surry County to Nathaniel Gray and Mary Etta Sprinkle Kennedy. Mrs. Shores was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a charter member of Central Full Gospel Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Ernest Shores; a son, Billy Shores; six brothers, Ford, Willie, Doff, Junior, Van and Paul Kennedy; half brother Henry "Tuffy" Kennedy; and three sisters Hattie K. Shores, Pearl K. Mabe and Maude K. Forman. Survivors include a son, Fred Shores, and wife Naomi of State Road; four daughters, Hattie Louise Hodge and Mary Harrison, both of State Road; Barbara Finney of Jonesville; and Pauline F. Darnell and husband Elwood of Jonesville; a daughter-in-law, Flora S. Hayes of Thurmond; a sister, Velma K. Jennings of Yadkinville; a half sister, Lucy K. Kelley! ; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Coleen Kennedy, Vanice Kennedy and Ruby Holyfield; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Central Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Bobby Norman and the Rev. Eugene Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday evening, Feb. 8, at Central Full Gospel Church. The family will accept flowers, or memorials may be made to Central Full Gospel Church Building Fund. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Faulk and the nursing staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their loving care.
