He was born June 5, 1915, in Yadkin County to the late English and Bessie Burgess Comer. Mr. Comer was a farmer and retired as supervisor with Wake Forest University Carpentry Department. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church, the Lions Club and was active with helping in the community where he lived. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gerthorine Stinson Comer; and two sisters, Hope Martin and Hazel Hanes. Surviving are his two sons, William Tony Comer and Stephen Wray Comer, both of Colorado; two grandsons, William Anthony Comer of Boonville and English Steen Comer of New Mexico; a great-granddaughter, Hope Marie Comer of Davidson County; and a brother, Hubert Comer of Boonville. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Charity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddy Driver ! officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads Behavioral Health, 200 Elkin Business Park Drive, Elkin NC 28621, in memory of Mrs. G.S. Comer.
