She was born Dec. 30, 1915, to the late Soloman and Martha Cook Wagoner. She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters, five brothers, three grandchildren, and one step-granddaughter. Surviving are her husband of 73 years Arthur M. Haynes of the home; a son Herbert M. (Carol) Haynes, Elkin; daughters Barbara H. (Charles) Chipman, Jonesville; Wilda H. (Romie) Hutchens, Jonesville; Brenda H. Duncan, Sparta; Sarah H. (Bobby) Mathis, King; and Elaine H. (James) Walker, Hamptonville; 31 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 24, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Gentry Family Chapel by the Revs. Richard Cardwell, Edgar Yarborough and Gordon ! Macemore. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville is serving the Haynes family. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 2/24/2008.
