She was born March 16, 1910, in Yadkin County to the late A.C. and Fannie Adams Steelman. Mrs. Wagoner was a loving homemaker and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thurmond Wagoner Sr.; and two sons, J.T. Wagoner Jr., and Charlie Carson Wagoner. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Max Allen and Joan Wagoner of Greenville, S.C.; her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Gayle Macy of Jonesville; a sister, Francis Brown of South Carolina; two brothers, Earl Steelman and Bobby Steelman, both of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. Her funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in the Gentry Family! Chapel, with the Rev. Flake Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3808 Center Road, Boonville, NC 27011. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Elkin Healthcare for all the loving care given to Mrs. Wagoner during her time spent at their facility.
