"Papa John," as he was known, loved everyone and was loved by all who knew him. He raised a fine garden for many years and shared it with his community. He faithfully served his Lord, worked hard as a farmer and loved his family and friends with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, I.C. and Fannie Brown Collins; three brothers, Andrew Collins, Farris Collins and Ray Collins; a sister, Cora Lee Smith; a granddaughter, Sharon Holyfield; and two great-grandchildren, Sara Elisabeth Bunke and Philip Jared Bunke. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mrs. Ruth Wagoner Collins of the home; a sister, Martha Pearl Mendenhall of Boonville; two daughters, Mary Lou Muncus and husband Ronald of Boonville and Carolyn Holyfield and husband Roger of Dobson; three grandchildren, Chri! s Muncus and wife Donna of Jonesville; Dawn Matthews and husband Chris of Jonesville; and Rebecca Bunke and husband Paul of Dobson; seven great-grandchildren, Adam and Garrett Matthews and P.J., Joseph, Joshua, Caleb and Daniel Bunke; and a list of close friends and extended family far too numerous to mention. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 10, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Homegoing services will begin with John' s earthly body available for viewing from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Gentry' s, with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. Officiating John' s homegoing service will be Brother Jerry Sizemore and Brother Spencer King. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
