She was born September 11, 1954 in Yadkin County to Hubert and Inell Matthews Hayes. She was employed with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for 33 years. Connie' s passion for helping cancer patients inspired her to create a special event called "Just for You." This is a quarterly event staffed by volunteers and made possible by donations from the community. This event had a zero budget, yet treated cancer patients, their family members and care takers to free meals, make over' s, hair cuts, chair massages, manicures, crafts, live entertainment, a DJ, educational resources and door prizes. Because of Connie' s vision, hundreds of lives have been changed. Connie is survived by her daughter, Jessica Hope Lloyd, of Winston-Salem and her former husband, Ken Lloy! d, Jr, of Kernersville, two sisters, Darlene Boyce (Eddie) of Kernersville, Teena Hauselman (Chris) of Greensboro and brother Randy Hayes of Winston-Salem. Also nephews, Matt Hayes, Alex and Luke Hauselman and niece Ashley Hayes. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 20, at Home Moravian Church in Old Salem with Dr. Gerald Harris and Rev. Christine Clore officiating. Burial will be in God' s Acre. The family will receive friends at the church at the conclusion of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be sent to the American Cancer Society in her name and to Home Moravian Church. The family would like to thank all of Connie' s friends, family, church family, co-workers, doctors and nurses that stood by her through this journey. She loved you all. Salem Funeral Home is assisting the Lloyd family. Online condolences may be made through www.salemfh.com.
