He was born January 30, 1923 in Yadkin County to the late Sam and Cora Poindexter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Poindexter; daughter, Renae Poindexter; granddaughter, Brittany Poindexter; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children, Kelly (Pat) Poindexter, Ronald (Betty) Poindexter, Robert Poindexter, Tammy (John) Pasehel; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; five great-grandchildren; brother, Clint Poindexter; and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Walt Phillips, the Rev. Bill Hale, and the Rev. Jay Bonds. Burial will follow at New Home United Methodist Church Cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.
