He was born August 11, 1937 in Yadkin county to the late Lee Parker and Eva Cordelia Willard Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a retired carpenter and loved fishing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Ann Hayes and former wife, Carolyn H. Blake. Surviving are his daughters, Betty Matthews, Jo Ann Lewis both of East Bend; Donna Hayes, Dobson; Brothers, Kenneth Hayes, Frank Hayes, both of East Bend; half-sister, Melanie Hayes; sister-in-law, Betty Hayes; son-in-law, Marty Lewis all of East Bend; and several grandchildren and great grand-children. His funeral service will be conducted 2:30 p.m., Sunday, in the Gentry Family Chapel. Burial will follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery on Ararat Road in Surry County.
