She was born on November 19, 1915 in Yadkin County to Henry and Mae Norman Matthews. Mrs. Davis was of the Baptist faith and was the oldest living member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was retired from Astoria Braid. She enjoyed life and mostly her family, especially during the Holidays. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Glenn George Davis; son-in-law, Max Brown; sisters, Percy Matthews Norman and Lucille Matthews Brown; and brothers, James Matthews and Fred Matthews. Surviving are daughter, Shelba Davis Brown of East Bend; grandchildren, Terry (Kathy) Brown, Tammy (Bucky) Stanley, and Tina (Ted) Williams, all of East Bend; great-grandchildren, Kendra (Tony) Widner, Marcy (Jeremy) Mays, Brita Stanley, Katlen Williams, and James Williams; step-great-grandchild, Chad (Michele) Beane; great-great-grandchildren, J! ake Widner, Max Widner, and Dru Widner; step-great-great-grandchildren, Josh Widner, Nathan Light, Jacob Widner, Aaron Mays, and Braylon Beane; sisters, Mildred Brown of East Bend, Dorothy Burleson of Yadkinville, and Nell Rae Allen of Yadkinville; and brother Tom Matthews of East Bend. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, December 15, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Byrne officiating. Body will lie-in-state, 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Huff Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 4744 Siloam Road, East Bend, NC 27018.
