She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Yadkin County to Winfield and Mary Wooten Brown on August 26, 1911. She was married to Howard Groce who preceded her in death on April 26, 1961. She was a member of North Point Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir until her health no longer allowed it. Mamaw made her living by keeping children in her home, where they received hot meals, love, and were told about Jesus. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Myriam, Buford, Conard, Roy, Curtis, and Worth Brown; four sisters, Neva Davis, Cora Webb, Rosa Davis, and Nina Morris. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Frances Groce Wall of Walkertown; grandsons, Tim (Michele) Wall of Rural Hall and Phil Wall of King; three great-granddaughters, Ha! nnah, Tori, and Taylor Wall; numerous nieces and nephews; and three special nieces, Ruby Phillips, Janet Richardson, and Pam Noah. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, at North Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Skip Furrow, the Rev. Larry Walker, the Rev. Larry Harrison, and the Rev. R. Zeno Groce officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. on Friday, November 28, at the Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. The family would like to thank the Nursing and CNA staff at Oak Forest Health and Rehab Center for the care that they showed Mrs. Groce during her stay there.
