Coleman, 74, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the Faith." (II Timothy 4:7), passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008. He was born September 11, 1934 in Richmond County to the late Jessie and Blondie Coleman. Jesse was an avid fisherman, loved hunting and going to West Yadkin Eagles and Starmount High School sporting events. He received a full athletic scholarship to Elon College, and played minor league baseball for the Boston Red Sox Farm Team. He served in the Army Special Forces. Jesse loved his family and the outdoors, but the love of his life was his grandchildren. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Coleman, Tommy Coleman, Donald Coleman; and sister, Audrey Collins. Surviving are is wife, Wilda J. Coleman; son, Jason C. Coleman; daughter, Lisa (Darwin) Barr; grandchildren, Jake Barr, Alex Barr, Erin Barr; sisters,! Patsy (Coy) Mills, Sue Coleman; and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Oak Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Lefler and the Rev. Joe Southard. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1041 Oak Grove Church Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020 or Starmount Athletic Department, 2516 Longtown Road, Boonville, NC 27011.
