Born August 9, 1911 in Yadkin County, Mrs. Whitlock is a daughter of the late Solomon G. Collins and Cecillia Burcham Collins. She was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church . Mrs. Whitlock loved needlework and will be remembered as a loving grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Sherman Whitlock in May of 1989. Mrs. Whitlock is survived by her son Ralph Whitlock and his wife Margaret of Thomasville, one granddaughter Valerie Leesch of Illinois and two great grandchildren Gerald Leesch and Owen Leesch . She is also survived by a special friend Jean Ritch of High Point. Funeral services for Mrs. Whitlock will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point, with the Reverend Ray Hamilton officiating. Interment will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Grove. The family will r! eceive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the charity of the donor' s choice.
