She was born in Yadkin County on December 29, 1927 to Stark Wolford and Annie Martin Davis. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Burton was an employee of Sheppard Veneer for 37 years. The last six years she worked at the East Bend Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband, Talmedge Charles Burton and a brother Aldene Martin Davis. Surviving are two sons, Larry Charles (Ruthanna) Burton of East Bend and William Morris (Elisha G.) Burton of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Carolyn Davis Hicks of East Bend and Betty Davis Reavis of Yadkinville; two brothers, Stark Richard Davis and Bobby Gray Davis both of East Bend; five grandchildren, Angela Burton Lord, William Brady Burton, Ashley Candace Burton, Benjamin Wesley Burton, and Christopher Ross Burton; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P,M., Thursday! , August 14, 2008, at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Krall officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 to lie instate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Huff Funeral Home is serving the Burton family.
