He was born May 10, 1930, in Yadkin County to the late Luther Clarence and Celia Mae York. He attended Courtney High School. He attended Shacktown Church of Christ when his health permitted. He looked forward to his daily trips to Hardees where he enjoyed meeting and talking to his friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; and a brother, Leo York. He is survived by three children, Robert York, Wayne York and Ruth Ann Baity and husband David, all of Yadkinville; a brother, Ray York, and wife Mary of Yadkinville; a sister-in-law, Shirley York of Tobaccoville; a longtime friend and companion, Judy Miller; five grandchildren, Bridget Ray, Michael York, Dustin York, Deanna Watts and Kristy Moxley; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Gentry Family Chapel, wit! h Brother Lawrence Warden officiating. Burial will follow at Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 4, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shacktown Church of Christ, 2605 Shacktown Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
