She was born in Forsyth County on February 11, 1922 to Eugene Lynn and Addie Carmichael Chadwick. Mrs. Hutchens was a member of Enon Baptist Church where she served with the WMU and had been a member of the church choir. She also served as a member of the Forbush Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. Hutchens was retired from Roses Department Stores. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: John Henry Chadwick, and a sister: Edith Crews. Surviving are her faithful husband of 68 years: Edgar S. Hutchens of the home, daughter: Sylvia H. Reavis of East Bend, two sons: Guy E. "Buddy" Hutchens and Billy Ray (Karen) Hutchens, both of East Bend, a sister: Jane (J.L.) Hamilton of Burlington, a brother: Kelly A. (Donna) Chadwick of Winston-Salem, five grandchildren, five great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special friend: Pat McClanahan. Funeral Services were held Monday, August 11, 2008 at 5 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Elmore officiating. The family received friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. Memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church, 6321 E. Old US 421 Hwy, East Bend, NC 27018.
