"Jack" Myers, 92, of East Bend passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. He was born in Yadkin County on Feb. 28, 1916, to Frank Edgar and Nellie Smitherman Myers. Mr. Myers was a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife of 71 years as of May 30, 2008, Winifred B. Myers of the home; son Charles H. (Jessie) Myers of East Bend; daughter Dare Poindexter of East Bend; three grandchildren, Kim D. Myers, Angela M. Johnson and Amanda P. Toomey; two great-grandchildren, Sierra Noel Johnson and Sophia Madeline Toomey; and special friend Ellie Denton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, at Huff Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Cathy Turman and Jerry Cornelius officiating. Burial will follow in Stony Knoll UMC Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 25, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend.
