He was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Yadkin County to the late Roscoe and Rachael Benton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lou Mitchell Benton; sisters, Jane B. Wagoner, Pearl B. Wagoner, Cora B. Vestal, Ollie B. Couch, Maxine B. Lineberry, Nina Benton; brothers, Everett Benton, Farris Benton, Clint Benton. Surviving are his daughter, Robin (Jerry) Yarboro; grandchildren, Zack Yarboro, Katelin Yarboro; sisters, Annie B. Macemore, Minnie B. Bryant, Ellen B. Macemore, Ruth B. (Sim) Crissman; several nieces, nephews, and friends. His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville, with the Rev. Reggie Darnell officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service on Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service i! n Jonesville, which is serving the Benton family.
