Mr. Main was born July 20, 1910, in Watauga County, a son of the late General Washington and Alemdia Potter Main. He was the retired owner of Main Grocery in Tamerack. Mr. Main helped to build Watauga Lake in Butler, Tenn., and also hauled bean pickers to Mountain City. He worked for Tom Miller at Cardinal Rest home for 23 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Ellison Main; two sons, David Main Jr. and Dana Main; three daughters, Gwyndola Main, Sylva Jean Main and Darlene Main; a son-in-law, Jack Parson; three brothers, Frank, George and Clarence Main; three sisters, Bertie Potter, Ola Miller and Ellie Lawrence, and a granddaughter-in-law, Kathleen Main. Mr. Main is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Parsons and friend Johnny Bunton of Union Grove; Gail Smith and husband Kenneth; and B! etty Jo Matthews and husband Don, all of Yadkinville; a granddaughter, Vickie Smith, and husband Jimmy of Pauline, S.C.; five grandsons, R.L. Main of Yadkinville; Jackie Parson and friend Marsha of Union Grove; Thomas Trivette and wife Lynn of Yadkinville; Glenn Trivette and wife Lynne of Ronda; and Justin Matthews of Yadkinville; two stepgranddaughters, Donna Thurman of Conover and Crystal Richardson and husband Chris of East Bend; a stepgrandson, Kenny Smith, and wife Shirl of Conover; and a daughter-in-law, Ivalee Vines of Creston. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Dave Main will be conducted at 2 Monday afternoon, May 12, at Elk Knob Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwayne Tester, the Rev. Gene Ward and the Rev. Herbert McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Main Family Cemetery. The body will be in! the church from 1 to 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, May 11, at Hampton Funeral Service. At other times, friends may call at the "Old Home Place", 7515 Meat Camp Road, Todd. The family would like to send special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Forsyth Medical Center and Mountain Valley Hospice of Yadkinville.
