She was born May 15, 1963, to the late Houston Jessie "Bip" McEwen and Dorothy Hall McEwen. On Nov. 9, 1979, she married her husband of 29 years, Ricky "Cotton" Hutchens. Mrs. Hutchens had two daughters of whom she was very proud, Shannon "Missy" Hutchens of the home and Freda (Beau) Messick of Cape Charles, Va. She also is survived by a sister and two brothers, including one that was very close to her, Jessie Lee (Selena) McEwen; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; two loving dogs, Nicky and Cora; and many special friends, Sue Joyner, Ryan and Miranda McClannon, Mike and Shirley Willard, Rosa Gonzalez and Jane "Sneaky" George. She had worked 13 years with Yadkin County schools and loved working with children until her health no longer permitted it. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, in Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Jessie McEwen officiat! ing. Burial will follow in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 26, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 5/26/2008.
