God saw she was getting tired, a cure was not meant to be, so he gently put his arms around her and whispered, "Come with me." She was born Feb. 6, 1919, to the late Rosco and Rachel Swaim Benton. Ellen was a member of Swaims Baptist Church. She devoted her life to her family whom she loved very much. She loved her flowers and was very proud of the quilts she made for all her children and grandchildren. She married Frank Macemore, and together they had three children. Mrs Macemore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Macemore; a daughter, Nancy Lee Macemore; seven sisters, Annie Macemore, Maxine Lineberry, Jane Wagoner, Pearl Wagoner, Cora Vestal, Ollie Couch and Nina Benton; and four brothers, Everette Benton, Clint Benton, Farris Benton and Parks Benton. Surviving are! her children, Roger (Patricia) Macemore and Linda (Clay) Weatherman, all of Jonesville; grandchildren Beverly Harrell, Bryan (Kim) Weatherman, Drake (Tammy) Macemore, Mark (Krista) Macemore and Shane (Margaret) Macemore; great-grandchildren Heather Harrell, Kayla Harrell, Cole Macemore, Luke Macemore, Eden Macemore, Kayla Macemore and Kasi Macemore; stepgrandchildren Lakyn Stewart, Megan Stewart, Alex McLellan, Madison McLellan and Luke McLellan; two sisters, Ruth Crissman and Minnie Bryant; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Don Hudson and the Rev. Gordon Macemore officiating. Burial will follow in Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 30, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Swaims Church Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020! . The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and s taff of Elkin Healthcare for all the loving care given to Mrs. Macemore. Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 5/30/2008.
