Mr. Bovender was born in Yadkin County on August 16, 1915. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His life was spent in service to others as a Winston-Salem/Forsyth County firefighter. As a dedicated member of Fairview Moravian Church, he touched many through his living example of faith. Mr. Bovender was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Williams Bovender; son, Lester Lee Bovender, Jr.; brothers, W. Nelson Bovender, Marvin O. Bovender, and Paul H. Bovender; and a sister, Bertie B. Holler. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Pernell Bovender; a granddaughter, Penny Allen and other beloved extended family members. A funeral service for Mr. Bovender will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13, at the Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. Burial will follow in God' s Acre at the Salem Moravian Gr! aveyard. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12 at the Reynolda Road Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Bovender' s name to the Winston-Salem Fire Department Retirement fund, Attention: Linny Baker, P.O. Box 2511, Winston-Salem, NC 27102.The family sends their most sincere thanks to the staff of Forest Heights and Hospice for their dedication and loving care.
