I agree with you that I don't believe that Sarah listed with Chapman Dinkins in 1850 was Chapmans wife. I do find that a Chapman Dinkins married Lidy Bovender in 1846 in Surry/Yadkin County. If the Chapman listed in 1850 is the one that married Lidy then she must have died before 1850. Mary Ann, Amanda's sister married John Miller in Yadkin County, NC in 11 19 1868. On her marriage record the only parent listed was Sallie Dinkins. Also Amanda died 12 20 1916 in Yadkin County, and on her death certificate the only parent listed was Sallie Dinkins. I would think that Chapman was her brother. So you might want to persue the parents of Chapman, and also John, and Elizabeth, who were listed in 1850.
