She was born July 13, 1928 in Yadkin County to the late Bob and Mattie Peele Wishon. Mrs. Shepherd retired from Unifi Inc. and was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin Ray Stokes and Robert Bob Shepherd, and by two brothers, Fred and Earl Wishon. Surviving are her sisters, Louise (Paul Gray) Martin, Lucille W. (The late David, Jr.) Holbrook; four brothers, Eldon (Peggy Reavis) Wishon, R.C. (Peggy) Wishon, Basiel (Doris) Wishon, Howard E. Wishon; and by several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Gentry Family Chapel, with Rev. Marvin Blackburn and Rev. Mack Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Longtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at Gentry Family Funeral Service, in Yadkin! ville.
