Wilmoth, 71, of Whitaker Road passed away Monday, November 17, 2008 at Hoots Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born June 25, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late Cletus and Ethel Pardue Wilmoth. Mr. Wilmoth was the former owner and operator of Wilmoth Motors in Elkin, assistant manager of Mendenhall Motors for several years, and retired from Stroh' s Container Corporation in Winston-Salem. He attended Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville, and enjoyed playing golf and hunting when his health permitted. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Ray Wilmoth. Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Gough Wilmoth, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Kevin Smitherman, two granddaughters, Whitney Smitherman, Kayla Smitherman, all of East Bend; a brother, Floyd (Virginia) Wilmoth, Boonville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His funeral service will be conducted 11:00! a.m., Thursday, at the Gentry Family Chapel, with Rev. Bruce Freeman and Rev. Andy Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchells Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
