Wishon, of Elkin, moved from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday October 31, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Rev. Wishon was born on August 12, 1913 to Joseph and Vertie Pruitt Wishon. He Pastored several churches in the tri-county area during his ministry for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lorene Wishon; his parents; five grandchildren; five brothers: Harrison, Carson, Dewey, Millard, and Reckford Wishon; and two sisters: Hazel Carter and Reba Carter. He is survived by two sons: Dr. Hubert Wishon and wife, Geraldine of Yadkinville, and Edwin Wishon and wife, Jane of North Wilkesboro; three daughters: Clara Hayes and husband, Jesse of Ronda, Rosa Holcomb and husband, Bert of Thurmond, Brenda Holbrook and husband, Frank of Kernersville; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday, 2 p.m., at Cool Springs Baptist Church by Dr. Hubert Wishon and Dr. Joe! Arthur. Rev. Wishon will Lie-in-State from 1-2, prior to service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church. The Wishon family will receive friends Sunday, November 2, 2008 form 4-6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Elkin. Johnson Funeral Home is assisting the Wishon Family.
