He was born May 12, 1940, in Yadkin County to the late Silas Lee "Perk" and Kate McCormick Hutchens. Mr. Hutchens was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with over 30 years of service. He loved cars, restoring muscle cars, drag racing and was crew chief for Mike Hutchens Racing "MHR." Surviving are his former wife and special friend, Mary D. Hutchens of Yadkinville; his son, Mike Hutchens of Yadkinville; sister Sylvia Jean Hutchens (Elbert Allen) of Yadkinville; and a brother, Wendell "Dink" Hutchens of Doraville, Ga. Mr. Hutchens will be viewed during the day today, July 11, and the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, in Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Allen Barker officiating. Burial will f! ollow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Yadkin Nursing Center, Activity Fund, P.O. Box 879, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
