Bertha was born on Dec. 31, 1912, in Yadkin County, to the late William Asbury and Emma Elizabeth Sizemore. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She worked at K&W Cafeteria for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Allen L. Payne, who died on Feb. 21, 2000; two brothers; and three sisters. Surviving Mrs. Payne are her sons, Richard Payne (Becky) and Johnny Payne (Linda); grandchildren, Ricky Payne (Lisa), Brandon Payne (Emily), Amber Johnson (Kenny), Christopher Adams, Kelly Jo Payne, Sandra Puckett, Trish Puckett, Will Douglas (Miranda), Joe Douglas (Kristie), Joshua Douglas (Tami) and Wesley Douglas; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Vogler and Sons Funeral Home on Reynolda Road. Inter! ment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, April 14, at the funeral home. There are two wonderful sons of Mrs. Payne that have given her great care in the last years of her life, if she were still here, she would have the most gratitude for what they have done for herthank you Johnny and thank you Richard for your benevolent watchfulness. He was the son of Alvis Columbus Sizemore b. Nov 22 1832 and died Aug 16 1889 & Sylvania Wooten b. 12 16 1926 died 2 14 1910. Alvis was the son of Isom Sizemore b. 1 10 1790 died 1 1 1885 & Patience Reece b. 2 10 1807 died 11 20 1897. Bertha's mother was Emma Elizabeth Mason b. 7 6 1877 died 8 8 1964. She married Bill Sizemore 12 15 1895. Emma was the daughter of Andrew Jackson "Jack" Mason b. 1820 died 3 8 1918 & Matilda Crutchfield b. 1841 died 1906.
