Gary was born July 29, 1952, at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C., son of the late Brodie and Mable Money of Yadkinville, N.C. Gary attended Forbush High School and graduated from Appalachian State University in 1975, earning a B.S. in industrial education and technology. Gary' s love of cooking started while in college when he worked summers at Grandfather Golf & Country Club in Linville, N.C. After college, Gary pursued a career in culinary arts, working many winters in various Florida clubs and resorts where he met his wife, Mary. They were married in Banner Elk, N.C., on June 12, 1985. After several years in Florida, the couple resettled in Banner Elk, where Gary resumed full-time work as Sous Chef at Grandfather Golf & Country Club. Gary was involved for many years with the High Country Chef' s Association, and he also did volunteer work at the Senior Center in Newland, N.C. He is survived! by his wife, Mary; and daughter Ashley. Other survivors include a brother, Kent; and many other family members and friends. Gary will be missed. A memorial service to honor Gary will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Nebo Road, Boonville, N.C. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor' s choice in memory of Gary Money. Arrangements are in care of Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Burlington.
