She was born in Forsyth County on Aug. 16, 1922, to James M. and Maggie Horton Johnson. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church for 65 years. She was very actively involved in her church and loved her church family dearly. She loved gardening, canning and helping others, especially as a waitress at O' Henry' s and East Bend Dinette. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William H. "Bill" Johnson; a son, Kenneth Johnson; brothers James Bridges Jr. and John Bridges; and her sisters, Lucy Ellis and Juanita Bridges. Surviving are two daughters, Helen Johnson (Wayne) Edwards and Cynthia Johnson Glasscoe, both of East Bend; a sister, Rachel (Harvey) Tuttle of Germanton; a brother, Syndey (Frankie) Bridges of Danbury; five grandchildren, Chris Reavis, Dustin Glasscoe, Daniel Edwards, Jamie Edwards and Victoria Edwards; two great-gran! dsons, Tyler and Blake Reavis; a special friends, Geanette Murphy of East Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, April 26, at Huff Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder Vance Jones, Rodney Marshall, and Scottie Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Allen-Johnson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at her residence.
