Eva was born in Yadkin County on June 14, 1923, to the late John Hayes and Sally Cooper Hayes. She was a member of Jonesville Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Lucia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Early Frank Groce and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by three children, Harry (Elaine) Groce of Franklin Springs, Ga., Frankie Ann (Fred) Lakey of East Bend, and Ricky (Sylvia) Groce of Mooresville; two stepsons, Jay Groce of Elkin and Ben Groce of Jonesville; three grandchildren, Kelli Griffeth, Keena Hylton and Charlie Groce; three step- grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma (Leo) Garris of Elkin; a brother, Homer (Ruby) Hayes of Mocksville; and several loving nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Jonesville Pentecostal! Holiness Church by the Rev. Kenny Gunn. Her body will be in the church from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Monday. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Elkin. The Groce family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, April 20, at Johnson Funeral Home in Elkin. The Groce family appreciates the gentle and thoughtful care from the employees of Elkin Healthcare, the third floor of HCMH, and Mountain Valley Hospice.
