    3. Thanks to some kind person who put this on the Internet! Notes on Elizabeth Money Hamby: Listed in 1850 Surry County, NC, South Division (#331). Elizabeth and Ephraim signed the following quit claim deed that was registered in Wilkes County, NC, May 9, 1854 (Book S, page 4). "This indenture made this the twenty-fifty day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight between Henry J. Money & Thomas H. Money & Rody (Money) Cheeks & Ephraim L. Hamby & Elizabeth (Money) Hamby of the county of Surry and State of North Carolina of the one part and Daniel Money of the county & state aforesaid of the other part. Witneforth that for and in consideration of the sums of one dollar each to them in hand paid the receipt is hereby fully acknowledged do covenant and mutually agree to and with Daniel Money for the sum of one dollar to us paid Henry J. Money, Thomas H. Money, Rody (Money) Cheeks, Ephraim L. Hamby & Elizabeth (Money) Hamby do assign a quit claim deed to the said state on the Sink Hole Branch waters of the Little Elkin containing one hyndred acres bounded as follows. Beginning at Benjamin Thurston's upper line at a big oak, West one hundred and eighty pole to a pine, North ninety pole to a red oak, East one hundred and eight pole to a pine, South ninety pole to the Beginning, containing one hundred acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the afore granted land and premises with all the rights title to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the same___ the said Henry J. Money, Thomas H. Money, Rody (Money) Cheeks, & Ephraim Hamby & Elizabeth (Money) Hamby do warrant from us our heirs, executors, administrators, or any just claim of any person or persons to the aforesaid Daniel Money, his heirs, or assigns for ever free and clear from all encumberances whatsoever in testimony whereunto we set our hands and seal. (day and date above written). Seals of Rhody Cheeks, H. J. Money, Thos H. Money, Elizabeth Hamby, Ephraim L. Hamby. (stating they know the verbal will of my father.) Signed, sealed, and acknowledged in the presence of: George L. Swink, Robert F. Money. (Note: The 100 acres in the aforementioned will was acquired by Samuel Money from William Allen in 1809. It was then acquired by John Money from Samuel Money. The signers of the above quit claim deed are John Money's heirs.) Listed in 1860 census in Nixons Distict, Surry County, NC. Listed in 1880 census in Bryan Township, Surry County, NC. The second Grassy Creek Church in Elkin was started in 1884 and was known as the Grassy Creek Methodist Episcopal Church South. Elizabeth was a founder of the church. Obituary from The Yadkin Valley News, Thursday, May 2, 1895: Mrs. Elizabeth Hamby, wife of Ephraim Hamby of Sate Road, this county, died last Wednesday, aged 84 years. She had been bedridden 3 years.
