Chappell Jr., 80, of East Bend died Monday, April 21, 2008. Paul was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Lewisville. He was active in mission work for 40 years and was very successful in raising large amounts of money to support several international Christian organizations. His work took him all over the United States, Europe, Cuba and even to the African nation of Zambia in June 2007. Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty E. Chappell; a son, Tony Chappell, and his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Paula A. Doub, and her husband, Michael; a grandson, Lee Chappell; and two granddaughters, Christina Groce and Erika Gibbons. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Dr. Bud Owen and the Rev. Sam Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 23, at the funeral home.
