He was born Dec. 17, 1922, to Thomas "Tom" and Nealie Wilkins Livengood. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Livengood was very active until his health failed. He was a deacon and a teacher to intermediate boys, a class he enjoyed and loved very much. He served in the U.S. Air Force for two years in Guam and Siapen in the South Pacific. He received three battle stars and a unit citation. He was retired from Hanes Dye and Finishing with 34½years of service. He was a charter member for 30 years of Fall Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He married Avonell Harris Livengood on July 2, 1949. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Avonell Harris Livengood of the home; two sisters, Evola Moore of the Elms of Clemmons and Eva Ranson of Winston-Salem; two brothers, George Livengood of Vienna Village and Fred Livengood of Winston-Salem; and several special nieces and! nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Union Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenny Gooden and the Rev. Jim Murphy officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, March 26, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend.
