He was born Dec. 9, 1958, in Stokes County to Ralph and Etta May "Bill" Scott Marion. Mr. Marion was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church of Pinnacle and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hamptonville. He worked for 10 years at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and had 16 years of service as a correctional officer at Wilkes Correctional Unit with the N.C. Department of Correction. Danny was an avid NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed playing softball, various card games and hunting. He loved the time spent entertaining his many family and friends. Mr. Marion was preceded in death by a brother, John Franklin Marion. Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years, Faye Dobbins Marion of the home; three daughters, Melissa Lynn Marion and Mindy Cee Marion, both of Dobs! on, and Lori H. Chipman of Hamptonville; his parents, Ralph Samuel and Etta May "Bill" Marion of Pinnacle; two brothers, Donald (Francis) Marion and Tony (Sue) Marion, all of Pinnacle; a sister, Joan (Andy) Hauser of Pinnacle; sister-in-law Grace Marion of Pilot Mountain; mother-in-law Ola Dobbins of Hamptonville; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Souther and the Rev. Larry Lefler officiating. Mr. Marion will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 26, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 201 Technology Drive, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or Oak Grove Baptist Church, 8087 Windsor Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020. The family would like to express their gratitude to ! the nurses and staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the loving care gi ven and to special friends Julia Freeman and Lynn Aplin for their faithful and consistent care and support.
