She was born in Yadkin County on Feb. 26, 1934, to Baxter and Bernice Matthews. She was a member of Forbush Friends Meeting. She served as pastor to Siloam Friends Meeting from 1965 to 1979. She taught Sunday school at Forbush Friends Meeting from 1979 to 1988 when she served as pastor at Friends Union Meeting until 1995. She also taught Sunday school at Pilot View Friends Meeting. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin G. Davis; her first husband, Grady L. Brown; two brothers, Robert Matthews and Denny Matthews; her sister, Grace Matthews; and her beloved son, Robbie Brown. Surviving are her daughters, Brenda B. (Jay) Meenach, Glenda B. (Mike) Booker, Loretta B. (Haywood) Barker and Karen B. (Keith) Googe; three stepchildren, Rhonda (Ray) Vestal, Steve (Norma) Davis and Lisa (Bobby) Wishon; two sisters, Nelray Hutchens and Joann (Jack) Hobson;! 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Forbush Friends Meeting, with the Revs. Reece Wall, Steve Swain and Nelson Puffenbarger officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m., and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson' s Research, Attn: Tribute Gifts, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780.
