She was born April 12, 1922, in Yadkin County, to the late Charles Gurney and Lillie Lee Shugart Vestal. She was a devoted homemaker, wonderful cook, and she loved working with her flowers and gardening. Mrs. Barron was a faithful member of Hunting Creek Friends Meeting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her loving husband of 67 years, Mervin Keith Barron, of the home; a son, Michael Barron of Hamptonville; a daughter, Wanda Jordan and husband, Jim of Hamptonville; grandsons, Jason Barron of Winston-Salem and Chad (Anne) Barron of Hamptonville; step-grandson, James (Amy) Jordan of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul (Ruth Lee) Vestal and Blaine (Donnie) Vestal, all of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be conduc! ted at 2 p.m. today, March 17, at the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Bob Blake. Burial will follow in the Barron Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Hunting Creek Friends Meeting, c/o Carol Bell, 736 Barnard Mill Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020; or Buck Shoals Fire Department, 6100 Windsor Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020. The family would like to express their gratitude to the loving friends, family, and neighbors in the community; Dr. Anito Toth-Bagi and staff of Forsyth Medical Center; Dr. Joanie Williams and staff of Yadkin Medical Associates; and Yadkin Home Health, for all the loving care and support given to Mrs. Barron and her family.
