She was born August 10, 1924 in Chatham County, to the late Albert and Mary Jane "Mayme" Byrd Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude "C.P." Mackie, Jr.; son, Keith Mackie; sister, Vivian Cole. Surviving are her children, Rex (Olivia) Mackie, Claudia (Mark Chapin) Mackie; several grandchildren, nieces, and other family members. Her funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Forbush Baptist Church, by Dr. Ray Davis. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. He was the son of Claude Philander Mackie, Sr. born 4 9 1883 died 10 29 1958. He married Maude Jeanetta Shermer. Claude Sr. was the son of Jesse S. Mackie born 12 30 1855 and Phisa D. Shermer. Jesse was the son of Benjamin Mackie born 11 11 1824 died 5 7 1880; and Tennessee Reece. Benjamin son of Robert Mackie abt 1794 and Anna Martin.
