Born on March 13, 1931 in Henry County Virginia, she was one of the ten children of Robert Ford and Carrie Ellen Gentry raised in Mt. Airy, NC. Mrs. Wilkins enjoyed working at many types of jobs over the years but was primarily a seamstress for sewing plants around Yadkin County, NC for the majority of that time. She always worked hard to have a comfortable and loving home for her family no matter what type of work she was involved in. One of her greatest joys in life was singing, as evidenced by a long history of her and her family singing together. Having a beautiful tenor voice, she traveled for several years with "The Singing Galatians" to help spread the Gospel through song and testimony. She passed that joy along to her children and family who continue to sing and play in many different venues today to carry on that same tradition. She is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Climon Wilkins of Yadkinville, NC; her daughter, Linda Banks and son-in-law, Jimmy Banks of Homosassa, FL and four grandchildren; daughter Jeanie Zane of Homosassa, FL and one grandson; step-son Ronnie Wilkins and fiancee Judy Hunter of Heath Springs, South Carolina and three grandchildren; son Robert 'Buddy' Dobbins and daughter-in-law Sandy Dobbins of Lincolnton, NC and three grandchildren; Dennis Dobbins and daughter-in-law Regina Dobbins of Hamptonville, NC and two grandchildren; daughter Brenda Carbajal of Orange City, FL and four grandchildren, and daughter Angela Walski and son-in-law Dave Walski of Yadkinville, NC and five grandchildren; two sisters Eara Scott and Nellie McHone; as well as many cherished great grandchildren, sisters and other relatives that will miss her greatly. The family will gather from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday evening, August16 at the Gentry Funeral home on Hwy. 601 North, Yadkinville, NC to receive family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 17 in the chapel also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Church in Dobson, NC. The Wilkins family would like to thank the staff and friends at KBR Hospice in Winston Salem, NC for their gracious care, love, and support to "Bill-bill" and her family.
