She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Owens; daughter, Dawn Patrice Owens; her sister, Madge Henderson; and her brothers, L. P., Hal, and Elwin Henderson. Her immediate survivors are her sons, John W. Owens and wife, Karen Sundback of Bloomfield, CT, Lanny G. Owens and wife, Connie, Larry L. Owens and wife, Carol, and Alan Owens, all of the Winston-Salem area; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Henderson and wife, Earlene; sisters, Ilene Peddycord and Margie Freeman and husband, Len; beloved sister-in-law, Lucille Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong resident of the Winston-Salem area, and a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church since early childhood. She dedicated herself to her family and friends. She particularly enjoyed cooking, gardening, and playing t! he piano. As a young adult, she played as Church pianist, and in later years, she frequently played for the Seniors Citizens Group at the Church and elsewhere. She was known for her loving, caring nature and was beloved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 3733 Ogburn Avenue, Winston-Salem with interment to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Friends may visit on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem. Memorials may be made in her memory to Mineral Springs Baptist Church. A special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
