He was born March 1, 1947 in Surry County to the late Fred and Martha Mathis Shore. Mr. Shore was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and loved spending his time in the outdoors going hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church where he served the church as an outside usher. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Shore, and a nephew, Donnie Shore. Surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years, Alice G. Shore, of the home; 2 children, Gerald David Shore and fiance' Ruth, Mocksville; Amy S. (Wesley) Childress, Yadkinville; 6 grandchildren, Emily, Kayla, Anna, Hailey Shore, Savannah and Jacob Childress; 3 sisters, Vonda (Phillip) Williard, Pattie (Willie) Cockerham, Mary (Danny) Pardue; and a brother, Ronald Gray Shore. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p! .m. Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Mahaffey. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
