Hospital in Salisbury. He was born June 8, 1918 in Statesville to Durgerthis Allison. Mr. Allison worked for Yadkin Lumber Company for over 47 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II in the European Theater and receiving several decorations including 3 bronze stars. Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gertrude Carter Allison in 1994; and by his son, Nathaniel "Nathan" Allison in 1995. Surviving are his grandchildren, Kevin (Lynn) Long of East Bend; Dierdra Williams of Atlanta, Ga., 5 great-grandchildren including, Heather Long, Ameshia Long, Kedrick Long, and Scott Wilson. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Saturday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family would like ! to express their gratitude to Charles Dinkins, Ann Park, Carolyn Long, Rick and Sue Matthews for all the loving care given to "Poe".
