She was born July 30, 1929 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Mr. & Mrs. J. L. Campbell. She was a long time member of Forbush Baptist Church and a 20 year member and Treasurer of the Hoots Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She loved her birds and working in her flower garden. Mrs. Payne loved traveling and was always ready for a trip. She was famous for her pecan pies. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Reuben Clayton Payne. Surviving is her son Jeffrey Clayton (Sharon) Payne, East Bend; a daughter Susan Payne Reid, Winston- Salem; two grandchildren Lucas Clayton Payne and Danielle Reid Bragg; great-grandchild Kaydance Bragg; a sister Colleen Campbell Foss, of Waycross Georgia; half-sister Judy Campbell (Tim) Weddington, of Palatka, Florida ; other relatives and many close friends. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday November 15, 2010 at Gen! try Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday November 16, 2010 at Forbush Baptist Church by the Rev. Grady Trivette. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations made to the Hoots Memorial Hospital Auxiliary PO.
