Mrs. Stinson was born June 18, 1921 in Surry County to Marvin and Verlie Payne Cockerham. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also a director for WMU; sang in the choir; and was a member of the Boonville Homemakers. Mrs. Stinson was a volunteer for the American Red Cross; served as Activity Director in local nursing homes; and volunteered at YVEDDI with the under-privileged children. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she fulfilled several office positions in the organization. Mrs. Stinson had a great love for sports in which she shared in her sons' achievements throughout their high school years. Her finest achievement was in bowling, where she won many awards, in Winston-Salem and Jonesville. Mrs. Stinson had a great love fo! r all her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stinson was preceded in death by her husband, Enos Graham Stinson; two sons, Chris Stinson and William (Bill) Stinson; and two brothers, Calvin Cockerham and Bill Cockerham. She is survived by two sons, Kent Stinson and David Stinson and wife, Victoria; a sister, Bonnie Riggan; a brother, Lee Cockerham and wife, Margaret; two daughters-in-law, Kay Hayes and Judy Finney; six grandchildren, Chad Stinson and wife, Anna, Justin Stinson, Angie Walker and husband, Brocke, Edwin Stinson and wife, Sandra, Jeff Stinson and wife, Lori, and Joel Stinson and wife, Donna; and five great-grandchildren, Katie Stinson, Abbie Stinson, Jesse Stinson, Laken Walker, and Grace Walker. A Graveside Service will be conducted Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Charity Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Driver officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Gentry Family Funeral Ser! vice in Yadkinville.
